I have been so good at sticking to my schedule! Last night when I got home, before anything could get in my way, I changed into my (now dry) workout clothes and started the ChaLEAN Extreme LeanCircuit 1. Holy cow!!! My biceps were burning off the start.
One of the exercises have you doing a bicep curl and a calve raise at the same time. My calves and biceps were just a screaming! I felt I did the tricep pushups much better this time. I am still doing these push ups on them knees because I have difficulty with the form. I can do all the other push ups on my toes but these. However, last night was the first time I felt my form was perfect! I think next time I am going to try taking it to my toes.
I also fit in the Extreme Abs workout right after from CheLEAN. Oh it was great! I love feeling the burn in my abdominal muscles.
Yesterday I emailed a coach from Running Room to ask for tips on how to improve my running speed. Turns out running steady for the entire duration of your run isn't the way to do this. The coach said I need to push myself out of my comfort zone and run really hard for a bit and then walk for 15 -45 seconds. Truth be told I was afraid to walk. I always looked at walking while I am out for a run as a sign of being out of shape.
But this morning I decided to take his advice and try it. Since I don't have a watch I would sprint until I had to stop or I picked an object way up the road to 'make it' to. Then I would walk for 15 -30 seconds, choose another object and go. WOW! It actually felt really good to sprint and go as fast as I could. Some of my sprints were shorter than others, and some were longer. When I was nearing my house I ran as fast as I could and I kept repeating over and over in my head " Go, Go, Go...you can do it! Go! Go! GO!"
I really wasn't sure if I had taken too many walk breaks or if I had improved my time any. So image my surprise when I walked in the door and immediately looked at the clock and saw that I had only been gone for 41 - 42 mintues! That's pretty much a 10 minute mile since I ran just over 4 miles and I walk at the beginning as a warm up! I couldn't believe it. I shaved nearly 6 minutes off my regular time of 46 -48 minutes!
Since it didn't take me as long as I had thought I was able to fit in the Ab Burner workout from ChaLEAN and it felt great!!!
So I am going to do this hard sprint run two times a week if I run 4 days and three times a week when I am running for 5 days.
My muscles are definately feeling the burn today ...and I love it!

Wow, thanks for the time on speed training. I'm averaging a 9 minute mile but would love to be at 8 minute mile. Thanks, you rock!
