Last night I did another of my interval training workouts. OMG! I was dripping with sweat. I did this on the treadmill at the fitness centre by my house. There was one other person there and they kept looking at me weirdly when I was doing weights afterwards...I think because my entire shirt was soaked with sweat except where my sports bra was...so yeah I have to admit I looked kind of funny.I am currently following a 13 week training schedule for my 10km race in October. I have just over 8 and a half weeks left.
For intervals, once a week I do a treadmill interval run which consists of this:
Interval Workout 1 (done every other week, 1x)
Warm up
Sprinting at 7.2/mph for 0.25 miles
Walking at 3.5/mph for 0.10 miles
Repeat 6 times
5- 10 minute warm down.
*This took me a total of 30 minutes to do. Which included running at 5.0/mph for 2 minutes right after the last interval to loosen my legs and then a 5 min cool down.
Interval Workout 2
Warm up
Sprinting at 7.2/mph for 0.50 miles
Walking at 3.5/mph for 0.20 miles
Repeat 4 times
5 - 10 minute Warm down.
Outside Interval workouts.
*When ever I feel like a little push I will add in an outside interval workout once a week. This includes me running as fast as I can until I have to stop and then walking for 15 -30 seconds and repeating until I have completed the number of miles I set out to do. Sometimes I will pick a tree or a street end to sprint to as a goal.
My leg muscles are always sore after these workouts so I usually do a steady run the next day or kick boxing to loosen them out.
Thyroid Update
After some serious thinking and talking with friends who are also dealing with thyroid issues I have decided I need a proper endo. I am currently seeing a hormone specialist and I am just not getting the attention that I need. He only wants me in every 3-6 months. At the beginning, until you find the correct dosage for your thyroid you should have blood work done EVERY 6 WEEKS and meet with your doctor every 8 weeks.
I have booked an appointment with my family doctor for next Thursday and I am requesting a referral to a proper endo. Since Endos book up very fast I am going to keep seeing the hormone specialist. I have been told it's often a 3 month waiting period for endos. Therefore, I have also sent an email to my hormone specialist indicating that I would like my thyroid medication increased. He's on holidays for another 2 weeks. BLAH!
I have just have enough of this. I am seeing absolutely NO results. And here's what I workout:
Monday
AM weights
pm - Tae Bo - 55 minutes
Tuesday
- Running Intervals pm
- Tae bo am
Wednesday
- am weights with some cardio - 20 - 30 mins cardio
- pm - 4 mile run
Thursday
- am - Tae Bo
- pm - 2 mile run
Friday
- am - weights with some cardio before
-pm - run or Tae bo
Saturday
- 5 -7 mile run
Sunday
- 3 mile run
I am sorry but I should be losing weight and am tired of doctors dicking me around. Enough is enough. I am keeping up my workout routine, I am going to continue to eat very healthy, and I want my dosage increased. My friend who has no problem losing weight with her hypothyroidism is on a dosage of 140mg...I am on 60mg. Yeppers...see the problem...I am way too low.
So anyways...hahaha...that's my little thyroid rant. Been at this a very long time and I am just lucky that I love working out. lol
